External Events on Council Parks & Town Centre

Bedford Borough Council actively encourages its Parks to be used for events and other community activities to ensure that there is plenty to see and do in Bedford. 

Please find  Bedford Borough Councils “Guide to Organising Safe Events” which is a booklet designed to help both new and experienced event organiser. If you wish to organise an event in one of the parks, below is what we call our parks pack which contains all the information which you will need to know, including our terms and conditions and some guides to help get you started on your risk assessment.  Please note that all events must carry their own Public Liability Insurance.

As there are so many different types of event, the advice in this booklet is intended to be general.

Events covered include large outdoor festival, fairs, country and craft shows, community/charity events, car boot fairs, etc, which are often held on public or private parkland or at schools, in an open field or on hard standing with little or no facilities. Typically, these events are put on by organisations such as school parent/teacher associations, church, community and voluntary groups and charitable societies, etc, for fund-raising.
