Kite Festival
Following the success of previous International Kite Festivals, the event will once again take place on Russell Park over the bank holiday weekend of the 25th, 26th & 27th May 2013, with the Kite Festival on Saturday and Sunday and the live final of our second Battle of the Bands Final on Monday 27th May.
As in previous Festivals, the Kite Festival will showcase Kites from the four corners of the globe; in the past we have had flyers form America, Canada, Japan, China, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium and a member of the Bali Royal family! We also have domestic flyers from around the UK. The programme throughout the weekend will feature Kites never seen before in the UK and children’s and adults workshops in the Kite Marquee.

The Kite Festival has the unique ability to engage and enable al ages to take part; anyone can fly a Kite! A special arena for members of the public to fly their own or made in the workshop kites will also be available on site. Based on the 2011 footfall, we anticipate approximately 40,000 spectators to attend over the weekend.
Alongside the various demonstrations in the arena will be a whole host of other attractions, food and drink, entertainment, music and kite stalls specialising in kite equipment and other accessories.
Battle of the Bands 2013
Following the success of the inaugural Battle of the Bands competition in 2012, the series returns again this year with heats being held in the Bedford Corn Exchange on Thursday 11th & Thursday 18th April, with the live final in Russell Park on Monday 27th May.
This year we have created an exciting package for the winning act, including being the support act for 80's band Thhe Blow Monkeys, rehearsal and demo recording at the Corn Exchange as well as TWo marshall amps.
All this is just two gigs away for one lucky band.
